Note: there has been a twiki upgrade since this original post listed at

http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/TWiki/TWikiUpgradeGuide

and it lists many improved features and plugins including an easier installation process. My current recommendation would be to start from/upgrade to that version.

Also note that you may want to implement or research fixes to prevent spambots from logging onto and spamming your twiki or harvesting user email addresses for spam(email obfuscation).

Also note that if you are using anything older than the TWiki September 2004Release02, your TWiki has a critical security hole in it and should be upgraded immediately. A security listserv was started as a result of this and I'd recommend subscribing to this list if you're running a twiki.
